Fog System Features
High pressure fog systems can provide solutions to a variety of environmental conditions. Most commonly used as an outdoor cooling system, properly designed and installed fog systems can increase the comfort level for almost any outdoor climate requiring temperature reductions. A fog system can drop outdoor temperatures by up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. In industrial applications, this can dramatically improve the operation of a cattle, poultry, or hog farm. To further enhance the cooling effect, high velocity fog fans can be included in the system design. For remote cooling capability or for large open areas, fog fans are the most commonly used solution.
For industrial applications that require increased humidity levels, fog systems provide the most efficient and economical solution. In wood, paper, or textile processing plants, fog systems are used to raise the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) and thereby reduce static electricity and product losses due to dry air conditions. A preset moisture content can be easily maintained.
In greenhouses, ensuring proper and controlled humidity levels is critical. A properly designed fog system can effectively accomplish this. Maintaining a constant relative humidity will reduce the plants demand for moisture and can maintain favorable growing conditions year round. Fog systems are an integral aspect to many nurseries and greenhouse propagation businesses.
There are numerous industrial facilities that have to deal with EPA standards for dust and odor emissions. Over the last 20 years, fog systems have been used more and more to deal with this sensitive issue. Due to the extremely small droplets that a fog system can produce, it is able to trap the dust and prevent it from spreading and can be used for indoor or outdoor applications. In addition, the tiny droplets of water can also be used to carry different environmentally safe odor counteractants and thereby prevent the spread of malodorous emissions. Odor control systems are commonly used for meat processing and waste treatment facilities.
One of the newest applications for a high pressure fog system is for special effects landscaping. Mistscaping® is the introduction of the fog concept into a landscape project.
